Meet Melisa Lopez

American actor Melisa Lopez was born in New York City.
Both her parents are natives of Puerto Rico. She studied fashion and art in high school where she developed a passion for a career in the entertainment industry. After High School, she worked for several years in the fashion industry at Liz Claiborne, Inc. In 1999, she placed her aspirations of becoming an actor on hold to raise a family and serve her country.

She enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and 10-years later transferred into the U.S. Air Force. During her years of military service, she supported military operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. Whilst serving her country she earned a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Park University.

Nearing the end of a 25-year career, she placed her dreams back on track and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting for Film (Summa Cum Laude) from the NY Film Academy in Los Angeles. After graduation and during the pandemic era, she engaged in background acting opportunities that made her eligible to become a SAG-AFTRA member. Some of her recent work includes supporting roles in short films and stage plays including a screenplay entry to the 10-Minute Theatre Festival 2025 at the FRIDA KAHLO Theatre as an actor/co-writer.

She continues to perfect her craft by training at the SAG-AFTRA LA Conservatory, attending casting director’s workshops, Shakespeare workshops at the Warriors for Peace Theatre, scene study at the Victory Theater, and the Groundlings Improv Comedy School. She enjoys supporting other aspiring artists through community service and outreach programs by serving on the SAG LA Military Committee, member of the Veterans in Media and Entertainment (VME), and a member of the American Legion at Hollywood Post 43.

In her spare time, she enjoys weightlifting, yoga, cardio, motorcycle riding, and watching movies.
